Where to find good dirt bike trails?

Not an easy question. Motocross parks, ATV trails, single track. Forest Service lands, BLM, private property. And the constant battle of closing trails, typically a result of rider abuse. I thought I would create a blog to open some discussion. There are many experts on these subjects, and I don't purport to be one of them, hence my need to learn.

But my curiosity and desire to learn comes from my own personal situation. I have ridden motorcycles (and I prefer motorcycles over ATV's) since a teenager, and have recently involved my wife (who has never ridden before this year) as well as my teenage daughters. As beginners, not only is it difficult to find a place to ride, but to find fun places that are not technically challenging, as they don't yet have the technical skills.

We have found that trails marked "easy" or beginner", are not...unless it is a road. Although I can ride through very difficult terrain, I don't like getting my family into tough situations that could get them seriously hurt. Nor do I want to discourage them.

I do want to point out that both my girls, and my wife, are very good athletes. But it takes time and experience to gain the proper skills.

So where to ride? I will post web links to many of the organizations and locations that I know about. Suggestions are certainly welcome.
